What’s in My Makeup Bag?

I was perusing Renee’s BeautyFool blog (ha ha, get it?) one day and came across this wonderful post about her makeup bag’s contents.

She’s got some awesome stuff in her makeup bag and it inspired me to do one of my own!

And just to let you know, this is what I carry with me to the gym. I usually just bring one lipstick, one mascara, my ROC Minesol SPF20 for my lips, sunblock, and my oil blotting sheets. But that would be too boring!

TOOLS

  • Assorted Makeup Brushes: We all know how expensive makeup brushes get and I can’t bear the thought of them getting lost or damaged, so I use cheapy makeup brushes when I’m not at home. I have a $3 brow/lash comber from Walmart, $2 Taklon angled eyeliner from coastalscents.com, and my beloved $7 EcoTools blush brush (works and feels like a dream.) The golden tube-thing is a synthetic travel blush brush from The Body Shop which my aunt gave to me which I’m not so crazy about
  • Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler: This is honestly the best eyelash curler for me! Gives you such natural looking curls and this thing is so durable! A little more expensive than your run of the mill curlers, but this thing will last you a very long time!

FACE

  • MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50:I really like this sunblock, but it can never take the place of my beloved Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 50. What’s great about this is that it primes your face for your foundation, but you can also wear it alone. It dries matte and does not leave my face all white and shiny.
  • Clinique Moisture Sheert Tint SPF 15: I’m definitely not a fan of foundation. I find it too heavy and uncomfortable. The consistency of this product is great! It’s oil-free so anyone can use it regardless of their skin type. If you have drier skin, you may want to apply a light moisturizer with sun protection first. SPF15 is definitely not good enough. I love how it evens out my skin tone.

CHEEKS

  • MAC Satin Blush in ‘Cubic’:A fave all year round. It’s a very subdued pink/rose that just looks so classy on the cheeks. I’ve been using this for years!
  • MAC Sheertone Blush in ‘Peaches’: I love this blush! So natural and does not have any shimmer in it. I like shimmer and all, but not all the time.
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in So Ceylon: This is a lot more bronze-y and is actually shimmery. Great for adding a little sun kissed glow to your cheeks without actually exposing your skin to harmful UVA and UVB rays .
  • Clinique Blush in Sunset Glow: This will also give you a sun kissed glow, but I love that it has much more peach in it so you also get that healthy flush on your cheeks.

And why do I carry 4 different cheek products? Well, I love to alternate. lol

EYES/BROWS

  • Anastasia Highlighting Brow Kit: I simply cannot live without this stuff. This is essential in my everyday routine. Great brows really do frame the face and you’ll find that you don’t need to wear as much eye makeup because of this.
  • Smashbox Photo Op: Wonderfully emollient and lightweight. It reflects the light underneath your eyes to de-emphasize bags and tired looking eyes. I use this when I feel like I need a quick pick me up. I wear it alone or on top of my concealer.
  • Clinique Quick Corrector: I really try to avoid wearing concealer because I find that it actually focuses attention fine lines and dryness. But what I love about this concealer is how lightweight is and how easy it is to apply on your skin. A little goes a long way, you certainly don’t need to cake up!
  • Rimmel and The Body Shop Eyeliner in black: I don’t wear much eyeliner during the day. I usually just swipe on some mascara and I’m good to go, but eyeliners do an excellent job of creating an illusion of fuller, thicker lashes.
  • (THREE mascaras!)Annabelle’s volumelash.com in dark brown; Almay One Coat Nourishing in Black; and Maybelline XXL Curl in Black: Yep, THREE. Ha ha.. What can I say, I like to have options. Of the three, I’d say that Volumelash is at the top since it really does amp up my eyelashes. Doesn’t clump and does not flake. I also really like Almay for the ultra-natural look it gives and Maybelline only because of the primer.

LIPS

  • Clinique in Angelic:
It’s Pinkish-brown. Flattering on most skin tones, I’d say. However, I like my lipsticks a lot more pink than this.
  • MAC in Chatterbox: This is an intensely bright pink, so I wouldn’t wear it during the day. It’s great for the nighttime, though.
  • Palmer’s Cocoa Peppermint Lip Butter: It’s alright. Nice and minty, though :) .
  • Not shown:Clinique’s Blended Face Powder in Transparency Neutral (great at taking away shine without mattifying your skin too much!), Burt’s Bees original lip balm (great stuff!), and Rosebud Salve (great for lips, dry skin, and cuticles!).

What about yourself?! What’s in your makeup bag?
