I picked up a pack of Tatch Aburatorigami blotting sheets from Shop Pretty when I went there a few weekends ago. Tatcha’s one of those brands that has been on my radar for so long, but it’s only available at Shop Pretty in Toronto and, for whatever reason, going downtown is SUPER hard for me despite living only 15 minutes north of it.

Tatcha Aburatorigami blotting sheets are made from leaves of the Abaca tree and are gold-flecked. They are fragrance and powder free which means that you won’t get that caked on look which is just… Ughh blechhhh ughhh… I can’t even type sensical words at the thought of caked on powder. Nothing can make you look older than dull, powdered skin.

The verdict? Absolutely amazing. Tatcha blotting sheets absorbed excess oil from my skin without budging my makeup. Yes, you read right: it didn’t budge my makeup.
Would I buy again? Hells, yes! Tatcha Aburatorigami blotting sheets are a little costly at $12.50 CAD per pack (the original pack contains 30), but the quality of each HANDMADE(!) sheets is amazing so you definitely get what you pay for. Also, I love that the sheets are biodegradable and completely cruelty-free. Ladies, I’ve found my summer bff!!
If you live in Toronto, you can try it at Shop Pretty. Wanna get up close and personal with the lady behind the brand? Hit up Vicky’s twitter account. She’s SUPER nice!

LOVE! These are definitely my favourite blotting sheets, even if they are a bit pricey. I find that a lot of blotting sheets rip because I have a little too much oil on my face… and the Tatcha ones don’t rip and are a really good size as well. And especially since I wear full-face make-up all day long, I love that these don’t budge anything on your face (TOTALLY agree on powdered blotting sheets!!!). Plus, the packaging is gorgeous! These are my all-year-round BFF’s.
You made such a good point and I can’t believe I forgot to mention just how durable each sheet is. I’ve never had a problem with the sheets ripping mid-wipe! Durrrrr…
The packaging is divine!! I can totally see this becoming my year-round bff as well
.
These sheets look so luxurious, what with the gold flecks and all
I’ve been using the Shiseido ones that come in a blue package. It’s quite good. Another one I’ve tried is Boscia when I was at Sephora awhile back. It’s quite good at absorbing oil and does not disintegrate easily.
Don’t they?? It makes excess oil on the skin SO.MUCH.FUN!! lol
I haven’t tried Boscia before, but I do remember trying Shiseido’s blotting sheets before… I reckon Tatcha’s better because of it only consisting of abaca leaves.
I don’t like Shiseido’s anymore — it’s all I used to use but I don’t like the powder on them. That, and I don’t find them as durable as other brands. Boscia’s are quite phenomenal; I switch between them and Tatcha.
Worth trying, as they’re only $12 for 100 sheets here! My favourite is the lavender scent, but I also like the green tea ones.
I am basically an oil slick, guys.
LOL! My face gets SUPER oily in the summer. Annoying!!
And that’s actually very cheap for 100 sheets?! Will give that a try one day
.
Oh god, this shop is so close to the areas I frequent. I have to visit some day! AND THEY CARRY RMS. I’ve been eying that stuff online forever!
Hi Liz,
How are you!?? ANyway, you should totally visit the shop if only to bask yourself in its prettiness because it’s such a pretty shop (pun not intended lol). And I was super tempted to swatch the RMS living luminizer, but I was seriously running late so I couldn’t.. Perhaps a blessing in disguise? lol
We should visit when we all meet up again
I’m doing MUCH better. Thanks, Mary! I was such a wet blanket the last time but I promise to make it up to you and Denise at some point. It would be a fun outing!
Anyway, I admire your self control. Broke or not, I’d still have been sorely tempted, so I’ll just note the address mentally and keep it in mind for better days.
That’s great to hear!! I’ve been super busy lately, so I haven’t been able to really read blog posts — very frustrating! And you better
. We’ll make a full day out of it.
Looking forward to actually hanging out with ‘ya
