Personal Favourites

It should come as no surprise to some of you that I. LOVE. FOOD. It’s the first thing I think about when I wake up and my last thought before I doze off at night. I just LOVE it.
So, this A Few Favourites post is dedicated to: *cue angels singing* food.

Pumpkin Protein Cakes
I snack on these day in an day out. It’s made of oat flour, almond flour, pumpkin, and protein powder and is only 47 calories per serving.

South St. Burger Veggie Burger
South St. Burger’s veggie burger with goat cheese is pretty damn good. I’ve had plenty other veggie burgers in the past, but this definitely blows all the others out of the water. Even my bf who scoffs at the idea of a meatless burger really liked it.

Soba with Sautéed Spinach and Mushrooms.
Fast and super simple to make.

Blackened Tilapia with Sautéed Vegetables, Baked Sweet Potato and Avocado.
I have a general rule when it comes to cooking (since I can’t cook if my life depended on it): just grab shit and throw it in the pan/toaster/oven. This dish pretty much follows that principle. I just grab whatever fish, coat it with whatever spice I see (it was a jerk spice mix in this case) and throw it in the pan to sear for a few minutes on each side. Next, I’ll throw some vegetables in the pan, add a bit of seasoning (Hoi Sin, Oyster Sauce, heck, even Coconut Milk — because, seriously I just throw in whatever I see), and sautée for a few minutes.
And, guys, you have to try avocado and baked sweet potato TOGETHER. It’s like a freaking party in my mouth!

Breakfast
This is my typical breakfast if I’m planning on working out in the morning: A huge ass mug of black coffee (because, honestly, you don’t want to deal with me in the morning before my caffeine fix), Chocolate Banana Smoothie (half a frozen banana, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, and half a scoop of Progressive all natural chocolate protein), some type of sautéed vegetable, and 1/2 cup each of baked sweet potato and fruit. It’s a lot, but you need the calories and carbs to have a good workout!

BBQ Combo at Yummy BBQ
So good!!! I think this dish goes for around $9-$10, if I’m not mistaken which is a pretty darn good deal because it comes two types of barbequed meat (I love extra spicy chicken and bulgogi) and the typical Korean side dishes (banchan). I’m sure I’ve had this at least a thousand times throughout my years in university.

Ontario Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza
Thin crust pizza with garlic, tomato, oregano, and shaved Grana Padano. So. Damn. Good.

Buttermilk Calamari (also Pizzeria Libretto)
Deep fried buttermilk coated calamari might just be my favourite type of deep fried calamari. It was golden brown and perfectly crispy. Oh God, I’m starting to drool.

Funnel Cake
My bf and I LOVE funnel cake and usually only get it when we go to Wonderland which kind of sucks because it’s only open from May to October. That leaves 6 sad and lonely months without funnel cake. But thanks to my friend Kate (you rock!), we now have the option of indulging in some artery clogging, insulin spiking deep fried cake batter in the dead of winter. #winning.

MAC Wipes: perfect for wiping off makeup before my workout or when I’m in dead tired before bed.

Gorgeous tree blossoms. I’m not exactly sure what tree this is, but it was too pretty not to snap a picture of.

My dog’s ‘begging’ look. Head slightly down and eyes pointed up. Works every time.

AmorePacific Moisture Bound Lip Treatment. Best lip balm in the world. Period.

The Last Straw from Cafe Demettre’s. This was actually taken the week after I had the chocolate one.

Cheeseburger from The Burger’s Priest from this past Saturday’s date with Denise. It was melt in your mouth good. Great, now I’m hungry again.

Tatcha blotting sheets and Heart Part biodegradable eating utensils (yeah, really!) from Shop Pretty.

Guys, meetMila Victoria. The prettiest girl with green hair. How the hell does she pull it off?! Anyway, I’ve known this girl since high school when she wore NO makeup at all. Well, look at her now, living in London as a Makeup Artist. Anyway, check out her youtube channel for ze ‘classiest’ makeup tutorials around. Skip if you prefer girls with little bunny voices.

I don’t know why, but clusters of pine cones hanging at the top of a tree fascinate me.I ran out of my favourite Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, so I asked the MAC Fairy to pick me up MAC’s cleansing oil (and a few other items). She kindly threw in two mascaras (Opulash Optimum Black and False Lashes) and a lipstick (Sheen Supreme in Bare Again. Wahoooo!) in the bag. Awesomesiessssss! I finally threw in the towel and got a Julep Maven box. I received an email alerting me of their $5 sale (their boxes usually go for $20) and I could not pass the opportunity up. My box came with: Age Defying Hand Brightener, Taylor (creamy sky-blue) polish, and Maya (pearlized peachy-pink). OMGWTFBBQ, best top coat in history!!Taken a few weeks ago right after the biggest snow fall we’ve had all winter (and it wasn’t even much). I was playing around with the settings of my camera and decided to try the photo as painting trick. To be honest, Kelly Kapoor is my least favourite character on The Office, but I love Mindy Kaling. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns) is hilarious.
Mindy on Ponchos: “Nothing says ‘English is not my first language‘ like me in a poncho.” I miss snow. Don’t laugh, but I seriously get SUPER depressed when I think of global warming. We’re having the warmest winter in Toronto which I’m sure a lot of people are happy about, but all I see are dying trees, flies, and tons of other insects that one wouldn’t normally see until spring. God, I don’t even want to think about starving Polar Bears because that stuff makes me want to crawl to a corner and cry. :*( Salmon sashimi with some Tuna sashimi-ish from dinner with Denise on Saturday. We ordered a total of 40 or 50 pieces in sashimi alone between the two of us. I was in sashimi heaven for the first 15 and everything went downhill after that. LOL.

Pepper, I love you.
