One of the two shades I received in my very first box from Julep Maven was Taylor, a creamy periwinkle blue. I have been reading tons of great things about Julep’s formula and brush and, man, Taylor totally lives up to the rave. I don’t really wear any lighter blue polish shades just because I don’t really care for it (I’m totally partial to dark/moody blue shades).

Yep, I think I’ve officially caught the nail polish bug and it’s all thanks to the following people: Denise and Liz! *shakes fist* Week after week after week, I am bombarded with images of gorgeous nail polish ranging from high street to luxe. Well, after an especially trying week at work, I gave in and bought my first Butter London nail polish; I’m only human, okay?!

I must have spent at least 20-30 minutes trying to decide on which shade to buy — they were all SO pretty. And the formula? To die for. Butter London’s nail polishes have the right consistency (not too thick and goopy or too thin) and you only need two layers (max!) to make it opaque. Wallis is a “tarnished, metallic olive gold.” It is very similar to Chanel’s Peridot, although I would say that this has a much deeper and richer finish (i.e. it kicks Peridot’s butt). An instant favourite!
Butter London nail polish is available online here or in store here and here. Each 4fl.oz bottle retails for $17.

Okay, so I officially love Illamasqua. I only bought two items on my trip (damn!) and they are both PHENOMENAL in both application and pigmentation. I almost never do my nails (I’m way too lazy for the upkeep), so I usually skip the polish aisle and head straight to the makeup or skin care aisles. However, I sort of caught the jewel tone polish trend this fall and have been wanting a forest green polish since.

Enter Illamasqua’s nail polish in Kink. Goodness, Gracious, Great Balls of freakin’ Fire! How beautiful and rich is this shade??? I love it so much. I may or may not have been caught once or twice just staring at my nails. Hahaha. The polish goes on smooth and is not at all streaky. However, you need to apply two layers of polish to achieve a clean and rich finish. The bottle of the polish is beautiful, but I am not loving the cap because of the edges as it makes for an awkward and somewhat uncomfortable application. At $14USD per bottle, this is a little on the steep end, but I’m glad to say that it’s worth it!
