Face

So, the day has finally arrived — your graduation day (yay!). Perhaps one of the most momentous events in your life, this day marks the end of years of, dare I say it, torture. It is the day you and academia finally break up; the day which marks the end of years of blood (just go with the flow, why don’t ya :P ), sweat, and tears. So, no more all nighters dedicated to finishing 20 page essays you always wish you had worked on when you had more time; no more cramming information into your noggin — okay, okay, okay I’ll shush now.

Anyway, to avoid regret and anguish years from now when you look at the 348 photos your camera-happy parents are surely going to take on your momentous occasion, here are some simple makeup and hair tips that I wish someone would have told me.

What
High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil

Where
(In Toronto, Canada) Holt Renfrew or at www.shuuemura-usa.com

Bank Breaker?
Yep. I paid $40 + for the 150ml bottle. Bank breaker, indeed-y.

How to Use

  1. With dry hands, massage the cleansing oil all over your face. I like to apply to my eye area first and let it settle as I work on other parts of my face; this makes removing eye makeup such a breeze.
  2. Then apply a little bit of tepid water all over your face and work it in — this will result in the emulsification of the oil which turns the product milky.
  3. Rinse with tepid water and pat your face dry.

HOT STUFF!

What’s Good
Containing camellia oil, ginger root extract, depsea water (depsea is water from the deep sea… why couldn’t they just refer to it as deep sea water??), and advanced hpo system, High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil is a reformulation of the original cleansing oil and it is strong enough to melt off even the most stubborn waterproof makeup. Can you say HALLE-freaking-LUJAH? The price is steep, but I consider the payoff more than worth it. Besides, one pump is enough to cover the entire surface area of my face, so this smaller bottle will last me months! This stuff is like liquid gold!

Who
MAC Cosmetics

What
Sheertone blush in “Peaches”

Where
MAC flagship stores and select department stores in North America.

Bank Breaker?
At $22 CAD, I would classify this blush as an ‘in-between’ or moderately expensive. Not as ridiculously priced as others, but it’s not drugstore cheap either.

What’s Good
Want peachy cheeks to go with your non-baked tan (really the best tan for your skin AND health) for the coming hot summer days? Swipe a little bit of this on, pair it with a little bit of mascara and gloss and you are SO good to go. What I love about this blush is that it’s pure peach — no hints of pink or brown or anything else. It gives your cheeks that healthy, fresh-out-of-the-sauna, flush.
