Lady Gaga. Where does one begin? From her unique outfits to the wild antics (hello, who wears underwear during an international flight?!), she is constantly upstaging herself. And how does one do this inexhaustibly? By upping the scandal factor one subtle notch after another — something Lady Gaga, who seems to be at the pinnacle of her singing career, excels at.
While I once found her to be a breath of fresh air to the music scene with her public persona, I now find her a little tiring to follow. It’s like I always feel so exhausted just wondering how she manages to survive day to day life what with all the constant planning and details to consider before she steps out all in the name of maintaining her distinctive image — her brand, so to say. Makeup, hair, clothing (or lack of) — getting ready seems to be a constant production for Lady Gaga.
Well, it seems that Lady Gaga has finally gone too far this time by donning a skimpy outfit made of cuts of meat both on the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan and recently at MTV’s VMA. Both dresses were designed by Franc Fernandez who advised those who wish to re-create the piece to “Go to your butcher, get some good cuts and start sewing.” (mtv.ca)
Animal activist group, PETA, argues that the outfit couldn’t have been real as it would have quickly deteriorated and rotted under the bright and hot lights at the event. Gaga and the designer, maintain that it was indeed the real thing.
Okay, real or not, I can’t help but feel a little offended. Is she trying to suggest some kind of women-seen-as-meat symbolism? I am a meat eater myself, but I would never go around town flaunting a slab of meat stuck on a fork to others. But herein lies the problem: are people who wear leather any better? Because at the end of the day, what Lady Gaga has done is no different than any average person wearing a leather jacket, for example.

Hermione Emma recently posted a facebook status update in which she announced her bold decision to chop it off — all of it. And by it she meant her hair.
“Dear all. Cut my hair off a few days ago… Feels incredible. I love it,” she writes and adds that she has “wanted to do this for years and years.”
Do you like the look on her? I didn’t at first, but then it grew on me. Now I do kind of love it on her — and she does have the face to pull it off. The Pixie cut, in my opinion, is one of the hardest hairstyles to pull off. I’ve always wanted to just cut my crazy hair down to an inch or so from the roots but then I’d be taking a huge gamble. Like 50-50. 50 percent I’ll feel great and fierce and look like I can actually carry off such a daring style. The other 50 percent? I’ll look like a giant mushroom and cry for months or give up and get a wig.
But I do dream of one day feeling such a huge weight off my head. Emma did say that the experience was “the most liberating thing ever.” Well, I’d love to feel liberated, too! lol
Here are some other celebrities who rocked the pixie cut.

Botox.
At the age of 18.
Yep.
Singing phenom Charice (who also hails from the Philippines) underwent a botox treatment plus another anti-aging procedure to look “fresh” for an upcoming guest spot in Glee. For those of us who have followed her career as it took flight from youtube videos to guest spots in Oprah and the release of a self titled album under the tutelage of hit maker David Foster, “old” is not something that springs to mind where Charice is concerned. Not in the least.
What does come to mind is her rags to riches story and that voice — oooh, that voice is simply divine; I’d love to have that voice. I myself like to sing and truly wish I could decently sing a song, but at the end of the day I’d just be fooling myself because am a bit tone deaf . And, frankly, I’d rather suck at singing and know it instead of not and sing to others thinking I’m all that and a bag of ketchup chips (YUM!). So, no, I won’t be making an appearance on Canadian Idol shown as one of the “funny” singers anytime soon. Okay, went off tangent, but let’s get back to Charice.
Seriously?! This is what it takes to look “fresh” for the cameras?
When someone says “Look fresh!” to me, my first reaction is to take a shower or wash my face — not botox! And she’s just 18!! What, does she want to take back some years and look a fresh faced EIGHT year old?!!
I wish someone in her camp would just shake some sense into her noggin already. She’s so young and the pressures and stress inherent in the entertainment business could be pretty damaging to her self image, I think.
