Did anyone else feel underwhelmed by the SAG 2011 red carpet looks? Maybe it’s just fatigue from hearing about, watching clips and seeing photos of red carpet looks from award after award after award. Well, it is awards season, after all. Anyway, my pick, hands down, are Sofia Vergara (Love. Her!) and Mila Kunis! Love the hair and makeup.

Both Sofia and Mila’s hair are styled in loose curls — a look that, at least in my opinion, always seems effortless and chic. Love, love, love the pairing of dark, dramatic eyes with a more subdued lip colour: a brownish-pink hue on Sofia and a creamy nude on Mila. And their skin! So flawless, no?!

Halloween Costume Ideas

Do you have any memorable costume(s) you’ve worn in Halloweens past? Mine would have to be back when I was in Gr. 7. I thought I had the coolest costume ever — a high school kilt. Needless too say, no one got my costume at all. To everyone else I just looked like a ‘niner.’ (Niner is the term older students teased the grade nine students — equivalent of a high school freshman in the U.S — with.) And I got tired of explaining myself after the tenth house.

Looking back I wish I had done more to my ‘costume’. Maybe if I added some greyish tinge to my skin and line my eyes with ultra black liner I would have been a high school zombie or some other living dead. Every year, as Halloween approaches I am reminded of that costume mishap. So this year, I decided to come up with some costume ideas inspired by celebrities.

American Apparel Hoody, Levi's Jeans, Bieber's own hair, and Hat by Lids

The Bieber. I don’t know why this guy is famous, but millions have the “Bieber Fever.” Not sure if he owes his worldwide fame more to his skills as singer than his famous coiff which seems to know where it’s going all the time. If you have a younger brother, then you’re in luck. Just grab their hoody, your skinny jeans, a pair of Chuck Taylor Sneaker, a baseball hat and you’re 90% there — all that’s missing is his trademark hair style which I’m sure can be bought at a costume shop. Act like a spoiled brat for that added “Bieber” effect.

Sequin Dress by ArdenB.com, Pumps by Jeffrey Campbel, MAC lipstick in Chatterbox, Stila Eyeshadow Trio in After Hours, Blue Wig, MAC Gel Eyeliner in Blacktrack

Ah, Katy. So gorgeous!! I like a couple of her songs (have Teenage Dream on constant repeat right now). Her style is really outlandish and sexy at the same time — she’s got curves and she’s not afraid to show ‘em off, so if you’re not really feeling the tight outfits, then you may want to pass on this. The main component of this look is the in-your-face electric blue or cotton candy pink wig. Emphasize your eyes with some vibrant blue eyeshadow and line them for that extra glam look. Bright lips are a must (I think MAC’s Chatterbox will do the job nicely) and if you want to go the whole nine yards, then get your bf’s photo on your nails like Katy did here.

Jeans by Soul Cal, L'Oreal HIP Kohl, Bangles, Studded Boots by idontlikemondays

Ke$ha’s look is probably one of the easiest.  In fact, all you really need to do is to wake up and roll out of bed.  She likes to refer to her style as “garbage chic”  which doesn’t really seem all that hard to achieve.  Wear some really distressed articles of clothing, and worn shoes (actually, you may want to go barefoot).  Do your makeup as if you haven’t washed your face all weekend (you did “just roll out of bed”, right??).  Stay away from brushing your hair (the crazier the hair, the better) and just randomly pile on the accessories.  Nothing has to match, ok? Oh, and you may want to constantly stick out your tongue at people because that  is so Ke$ha-like.

Who/What will you be this Halloween?

…like having your beloved’s face on your nails.

Photos in lockets, what? Those are so 1800′s. Nowadays saying ‘I Love You’ is as easy as getting their faces pasted on your nails.

Katy Perry showed off her ultra unique nail design which featured various photos of her beau, Russell Brand, at the MTV VMA’s a few weeks ago. I’m sure this was achieved using the Minx technology which I had written about a few blog posts prior. Seems like Minx is all the rage in the celebrity-sphere nowadays.

Okay I’ll admit to being a little partial to muted nail polish, so this is so no for me. Actually, it’s more like a “Do not ever…”  But I don’t know — is it mean of me to think that this is really weird?

Well, I guess I’ll be sticking with normal photo frames/albums.

What do you think? Would you ever personalize your nails with photos of your loved ones/significant other?
