Russian Red

It definitely feels like fall now. The streets are (beautifully) cluttered with leaves in bright red, yellow, or orange; the wind is a getting colder; days are shorter (eff you daylight savings time!); and Starbucks has stopped serving my beloved iced coffee with soy :**(. I sound a little bitter, but I actually love fall — the dogs are more comfortable, I get to wear sweaters all the time AND I am free to eat HOT soup all the time without someone saying, “Isn’t it a bit too warm to be eating soup right now?” … Hmmph, haters. LOL!

So, on that note I headed off to MAC the other day in search of the perfect red lipstick for fall..

I was feeling a tad more daring than usual and went for the most intense red with blue undertones: Russian Red. (It’s very, very, very matte so moisturized lips are essential!) I also managed to get myself suckered into buying their fluid line liner in Black Track to complete the “glam” look.

The photo above does not do the lipstick’s vibrancy any justice. Below is a swatch which is truer to the lipstick’s color.

OK back to reading articles **cries**.

People are crazy because SOUP IS AWESOME.

That red is lovely on you! For some reason, red lips just don’t look good on me. I have the MAC Black Track too and I find it hard to use… but it’s probably just me.

Hi Sydney!

I’m so glad you share the same love for soup. My bf thinks I love soup way too much but I think it’s the best comfort food out there.

And thanks! I know what you mean… used to avoid red lips like my crazy aunt, but after a while I warmed up to it. They say that “warm” reds (brown red, tomato red, orange-red) are best for those with yellow undertones in their skin while “cool” reds (red with blue undertones, plums, berry red) are the way to go for those with pink undertones in their skin..
No, I don’t think it’s you… I did have a huge problem with applying liquid or gel based liners myself for a long time, but it all comes with a lot of practice, deep breaths (or no breath lol), and the perfect liner brush. But I usually limit using fluidline since it can take more than 5 minutes PER eye for me… I still love pencils the best though.
