Quality: 4/5

Price: $$ (approx $20 + CAD for an 8 oz. bottle; or $100 for Makeup Optional Kit in which this is included.)

Cleansing Efficacy: 5/5

Repurchase?: Sadly, no.

I bought this as part of Makeup:Optional, a kit which retails for about $100 CAD at Sephora. They were very generous with the product proportions contained in this kit which is a huge draw.

Purity is a cleanser, makeup remover, and toner all in one neat package. I’m a huge sucker for packaging, so this was not hard for me to get noticed — I love the simple, understated packaging of all Philosophy products. I just don’t like that it didn’t have a pump which made usage of said product a little less easy than I would have preferred. The product itself has a nice, clean smell; lathers up quite nicely on the skin and does indeed rid it of all dirt and grime that have accumulated during the day.

I really wanted to like this product. However, although this is a great cleanser, and a lot have raved about this product, I found that it was a little too drying on my skin. My skin is normal/combination with a tendency to get really dry around the cheek area (where there is little to no oil production activity). My skin DID feel very clean after, but I felt that it stripped my face of too much oil. My skin immediately felt tight — not a very good sign.

This may be due to the fact that I started using this at the cusp of spring — seasonal changes cause my skin to break out in dry, flaky patches, but I still don’t like that it was too drying on my skin. It works for a whole lot of other girls, though. If you want to try it out for yourself, Sephora does offer free samples of their products which is great.
