… Okay, more like cursing and muttering death threats at the umbrella I JUST bought and had already turned inside out. What the effs!? I mean, yeah, it was like $3.00, but it didn’t even last FIVE minutes with me.
It was a super windy afternoon, to say the least.

You know what did make it better? Visiting Toronto’s premier green beauty boutiqueShop Pretty. I’d been meaning to drop by for the longest time, but never really found the time to. The store, which will move to 744 Queen St. West sometime this week (it’s currently on Markham Street just a few steps south of Bloor St. West), looks like a page out of every gal’s dreams of a sunny summertime afternoon when they were little.

Lemonade pitchers, yellow gingham tablecloths, and that watermelon slices. Yeah, that’s what the store made me think about.

The store carries natural and cruelty-free brands that are very hard to find: Ilia, RMS, Tatcha, and Scotch Naturals just to name a few. Its owner, Andrea, is the nicest gal and is very passionate about the green movement in beauty.

In the end I walked out with Tatcha Aburatorigami blotting papers and a box of Heart Part (a three-in-one utensil that is 100% biodegradable). Really wish I could have stayed much longer, but I was running very late for something. And I just realized I didn’t even take a photo of Andrea (sorry!).

For those curious about the brands above or just simply want to be surrounded by very pretty things, check out the store. Seriously.

A week ago Revlon’s Colourburst Lip Butter went on sale at the local drugstore for $3.99 down from the regular retail price of about $10.99. I’d read many glowing reviews about the line, so I just had to take advantage of this sale — it was too good to pass up! Anyway, about half an hour later, I walked out with a WHOPPING one shade: Candy Apple. So typically me. :(

I’ve tried many lip butters in my life, so I wasn’t expecting that much from Colourburst Lip Butter, but, oh MAN (!), it applies and feels like a luxe lip product. It is not too shiny (one point), non-sticky (plus another point), and has great colour payoff for a lip butter (and another one!).

The packaging is very good as well. The top part of the cap is completely clear, so you know what shade it is and it’s pretty sturdy. The cap closes with a click and doesn’t open so easily which is great because nothing’s worse than opening your bag to find your favourite lipstick all covered in lint.

Revlon’s Colourburst Lip Butter is formulated with mango, shea and coconut butter formula. It has pretty decent staying power and kept my lips pretty moisturized. Candy Apple is a warm red with orange undertones.
Overall, I’d say that this is a stellar product worthy of your attention even at regular price.

Denise tagged me on this fun post, so here goes nothing:

  1. Greed: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive? My most inexpensive beauty item is my newly acquired Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter. It was on sale for $3.99 last week so I went buck crazy and bought one shade: Candy Apple. My most expensive item would definitely have to be my AmorePacific Moisture Bound Rejuvenating Serum. Me loves it so.
  2. Wrath: What beauty product do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get? Most hair products. I usually avoid the hair aisle of the drugstore like the plague because I am just really clueless when it comes to styling my hair. I have bought some products in the past with the best intentions, but other than L’Oreal Elnett and Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray they usually end up in the back of my drawer never to be seen again until the next big ‘purge.’
  3. Gluttony: What are your most delicious beauty products? Hmmm… Believe it or not, I don’t really care if any beauty product I get smells good (except for perfume, obviously!) or tastes good as long as it delivers. But I do think that my Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco shampoo and conditioner smell very good! I am always reminded of the beach whenever I use it.
  4. Sloth:What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness? Body lotion. I usually find myself so drained after my shower and applying my million serums and moisturizers that I almost always forget or neglect to apply body lotion. NOT GOOD!
  5. Pride: What beauty product gives you the most self-confidence? This is HARD! I’d have to say concealer and brow powder. Concealer really gives my eyes that much needed ‘lift’ (I have dark bags since I love to sleep in) and nice brows do wonders for your face.
  6. Lust: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex? Humour and nice shoulders. Shoulders are so underrated.
  7. Envy: What items would you most like to receive as a gift? Okay, my birthday’s coming up, so…. (lol) Beauty: AmorePacific Rejuvenating Crème; Makeup RMS Living Luminizer; and Fitness Polar Heart Rate Monitor. Oooh and a Dyptique candle just like Denise!

Thanks, Denise!!!

I tag… everyone! :P .
