Mung Bean Paste Hopia. I love to put a couple, or ten, in the toaster oven and toast those suckers until they’re just about burnt on top. It makes the puff pastry a little crunchy and the paste so warm. Perfect reading treat.
Colourful candies. I’m not normally into hard candy. Actually, I kind of don’t give a flying cr*p about them, but I do love these just because of the colourful stripes even if the taste is not mind-blowing. Look at me. Shallow and superficial right down to candy.
Seaweed Salad. I LOVE seaweed salad. I eat it almost every time I have sushi, which is appallingly often. I think it tastes best when it’s served warm with JUST a hint of dressing. Too much dressing on any salad is just gross, anyway.
“A Streetcar Named Devour” at Cafe Demetre. Look. At. That. The waffle was cooked to perfection. The chocolate ice cream was sweet, but not sickeningly sweet. The strawberries were ripe and — OMG I give up trying to describe it because I’ve now got a craving like no other.
I always imagine my dog going like, “Ewwwwww…” when he puts one paw up. It’s way too cute for words.
I don’t know exactly how long I’ve wanted to try YSL’s much sought after Touche Éclat, but it seems like it’s been years and years. Yes, I do have very bad under eye circles and need all the help I can get, but, still, I wasn’t willing to spend $50 CAD on a tube of concealer especially when there are a lot more affordable options available. So, in sum, yes, I’m more than okay to spend $40 on a tube of lipstick (Exhibits A and B), but no to a $50 concealer. I guess concealer/highlighter just doesn’t scream “luxury” in the way a tube of lipstick can.
Touche Éclat comes in a sleek gold “pen.” It has a black “click” end and it takes about a couple of clicks to get enough product out. The applicator is made of synthetic bristles. I have nothing bad to say about the packaging of the Touche Éclat. It’s super sleek and fuss-free. I kind of find it annoying that I have to always “click” to get the product out as I prefer a squeeze tube, but that’s just a personal preference.
Touche Éclat has a very emollient consistency and it was a breeze applying it. Shade 02, which is what I got (didn’t really have a choice there… more on this in a bit), seems a little on the light side, but it was actually just right since I’m all pasty right now lol. I didn’t find that it settled in the fine lines around my eyes (wooo hoooo!) and it didn’t ‘dry out’ after a couple of hours of wear. One and a half to two full clicks is enough for each eye and it does go on quite opaque. Honestly, I can see why YSL’s Touche Éclat has such a huge cult following. It does ‘illuminate’ the under eye area and gives your skin that coveted ‘glow.’ However, at $50 a pop, it is very much on the expensive side.
Think about it, concealers have a shelf life of 3-4 months which would mean that using Touche Éclat will cost you $15-$17/month. Good news is there is a dupe out there: Rimmel’s 2-in-1 concealer/highlighter which I have used in previous Makeup Mondays (Example) offers the same results at a fraction of the price of a Touche Éclat. I really should review that next!
Would I repurchase this? Probably not. I’m perfectly happy with the results I get with Rimmel. I bought this as part of a gift box which included a sample size of Rouge Pur Couture #09, a full sized Crayon Yeux Haute Tenue in black, and a mascara (the name of which escapes me at the moment) for $20. The store only had shade 02 in stock, so there’s my reason for not having a choice in the shade.

Oh man, I haven’t done a blog tag in… wait, did I ever do one? Anyway, Liz tagged me for this one and the timing couldn’t be more perfect since I’ve been stuck in bed for three days now (and counting) doing nothing but drift in and out of consciousness (lol).
I met Liz through… I wanna say Twitter. Yep, I remember now. It was twitter. She sent me a lovely tweet regarding my site and the rest is, shall we say, history. She is the mastermind behind a (seriously ingenious and why hadn’t I thought of it first??!) series of blog posts dedicated to “Empties“. Apart from being a true and dedicated beauty junkie (-cum hoarder? I KID!! Hey, that’s what the Empties posts are for!), Liz is also wise beyond words. Seriously. This girl can tweet about nail polish one minute and reading James Joyce (for freaking pleasure!) the next.
So, here are 7 facts about myself:
- I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before but, without a doubt, I’m the most clumsy person I know. Not a day goes by that I don’t hit, spill, or drop something. I swear to god.
- I spend an insane amount of time on the net looking for cute animal videos and articles. My favourites are the B & E (Break & Enter… Denise! I’m sure you get the meaning of that!) seal pup, the waving Kodiak Bear, Polar Bears playing with sled dogs, and TEDDY BEAR the talking porcupine who loves squash and corn and (I swear!) sounds like an Ewok.
- I go to the gym almost everyday. I think it borders on obsession, but my day just doesn’t feel complete until I’ve had a good sweat at the gym.
- I hate long nails. Blech. Achk. Yuck.
- The remote to my TV no longer works. As a result of this I’m pretty much tuned into the Food Network exclusively because I’m too lazy to change the channel.
- I love my dog and my dog loves meeeeee lol
- I’m actually also a mortgage broker. I kind of just fell into it because my bf is a Real Estate agent. Very random!
Thanks for the fun quiz, Liz!!
