Makeup Mondays

in Makeup

To be honest, I was dreading this Makeup Monday only a little bit because I felt like I was running out of options. I mean, my makeup collection is pretty minuscule, so what the hell could I come up with? And, seriously, we all love lipsticks, but how many more lip looks could anyone stand?
Thankfully I came across Satin Taupe!

This shadow is all sorts of A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Taupe is usually a miss for me, but Satin Taupe really works. It’s, well, taupe, but with silver shimmer which adds a lot of depth to the colour that it can be worn alone all over the lid.

Here’s the rest of what I wore:
Cargo Tinted Moisturizer in Nude
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Warm Natural
Chanel Poudre Universelle in Rose Merveille (to set)
Benefit Brow Zings in Dark
Benefit Cosmetics Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P (worn as the base)
MAC Eye Kohl in Phone Number
MAC Frost Shadow in Satin Taupe (all over lid)
MAC Matte² Shadow in Fig. 1 (worn on outer lid)
MAC Velvet Shadow in Black Tied (used to line upper lids and smudged across bottom lids)
Bare Escentuals Eyeshadow in Vanilla Sugar (as highlighter)
Benefit Bad Gal Mascara
Revlon Matte 001 Lipstick
MAC Amplified Lipstick in Coral Polyp (patted on top of Revlon 001 for a little bit of colour)
MAC Sheertone Blush in Peaches (applied sparingly)
Bare Escentuals bareMinerals All-Over Face Color in Clear Radiance (applied to tops of cheekbones)

Holy. Crap. I don’t think I’ve used that much makeup for one look in a LONG time! I really have to step up my eye makeup game.

Game. Ahwwn!

What did you wear today?

Yayyyyyyyy, eyeshadow! :D Satin Taupe looks bee-yoo-ti-full on you! It looks great with Fig. 1; I’ve never tried that combination before. I love it with All That Glitters, Shale, and Carbon/Black Tied. :)

I find that you can work pretty much any colour combination if you ground it with black eyeliner. It has to be really, really black (I only use liquid for that reason), but it works. Like, all of a sudden, pink eyeshadows don’t look like you have a rash… or purples don’t look like bruises… ;)

In an effort to make use of the Quite Cute eyeshadow palette for work yesterday (Monday), I mixed in Parfait Amour and Contrast with the pale purple and pale silvery green, and it came out pretty nicely… Though I think it had more to do with Parfait Amour and Contrast than the Cutie palette. :P

Haha! Finally, an eyeshadow post!! Thanks, Denise :D .

Yeah, I was really running on zero inspiration and Fig. 1 just happened to be out in the open, so I used it lol.. I’m not an expert like you by any stretch of the imagination, but I do also find that black, dark grey or, at the very least, dark brown will always work as an anchor for shades that are harder to pull off. Maybe that’s why I looked like I was beat up for that wedding where I wore Star Violet!

And I had to google Parfait Amour because I’m not very well versed in MAC eyeshadows, unlike someone here. That purple/lavender is effin awesome!!

Daaaamn girl you look hot! :) I have MAC’s Satin Taupe as well, bought it ages ago but thought it looked really bad on me. Now you’ve convinced me to dig it up and try it out again, it looks gorgeous on you!

OMG, Renee I assure you that Satin Taupe will work well on you! You don’t even have to do a full-on smokey eye like I did — just pat a little all over your lid area, then apply a little bit of highlighting shadow (something like a shimmery champagne) on your brow bone and line your eyes. Pls. post! Would love to see it on you. ;-)

And thank you :D !

You look beautiful whatever you wear :)
I love your eyes… they are such a beautiful color :)
I have completely lost interest in eyeshadows lately… I do love them, but Im too damn lazy to put them on… I just use eyeliner, mascara and chapstick and thats it…
Sometimes I put on a lipstick but it is rare…:D

Hugs
