Ever heard of that Coconut song before? It’s by Harry Nilsson. If yes, then I feel for you. If not, don’t bother. It’s the most annoying song, EVER. Anyway, was in Aruba a couple of weeks ago and had a spectacular time. Have never been to a prettier beach. Wait, actually I think it’s on par with Nassau.
We stayed at Riu, an all inclusive hotel. You know that adage, “Your body is a temple?” Well, my body was a trash bin for an entire week. Let’s just say that I have no control when it comes to pizza and dessert at a buffet.
A coconut that tasted a little off // A coral.
View from the room. // Iggy, the poolside iguana.
Some funky seaweed. // From a boat.
Banana boaters. // Footpath.
Coconuts. // Surf and Turf.
Foam. // A glorious Aruban sunset.
A pelican. // Riu.
Another glorious Aruban sunset.
The Turtlewatch inspecting the mound of unhatched Leatherback Sea Turtle eggs. // The two that hatched but didn’t survive.

I have never heard of that song, but thanks for the heads up.
The dead sea turtles make me sad.
Gorgeous pictures! Love those glorious sunsets…
LOL well don’t be so thankful… You never know when I’ll ambush you with that god awful song.
And it did make me verrrrrry sad to see those two little turtles.
Thanks! See yaaa
Excuse me miss, when did you become a photographer??? Your pictures are absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Mimi!!
I’ve been doing a lot of reading on photography. Also, your camera’s guidebook is your BFF.
I’ve heard that song awhile back I think. *Shudder* It’s like an ear worm (might be a German term), will play over and over again in your head. So don’t listen to it
Your photographs are gorgeous. You make me want to go to Aruba, and I’m not even a beach person.
Yes, it’s the “She put de lime in de coconut and drank them both up,” that repeats for like a gajillion times that gets me. GRRRR!
Thanks, Fieran
. You should go to the Caribbean sometime. Aruba’s a little warm, but it’s not the stifling humid warm like what we get here in Toronto during summertime. It’s very comfortable!
The pictures that you have taken are simply breathtaking. It makes me want to go Aruba even though I have no idea where it is. The beach and sea view are simply awesome. I must go there with my family this December.
Thank you!
Girl, you are so funny…”my body is a trash bin”….gawd, I hear ya. It’s always hard to strike a balance when one is travelling…
You would know, you’re always on the go!
I always prepare my meals when I’m at home, but it gets very tedious and even stressful when I’m vacationing so I usually just go for whatever’s most convenient unless I have dinner/lunch plans already.
Is it common for a bunch of turtle eggs not to hatch? Or not…if so what happened?
I’m totally jealous of your trip! I’m not much of a sun bathing beach goer, but the photo ops are limitless!! The water..so blue. That sand..so white. Gorgeous!
My bf and I watch a lot of NatGeo and Animal Planet specials on animals and I vaguely remember seeing a special on turtles and their life cycles. Apparently, turtles will lay a bunch of eggs, but not all of them will hatch for whatever reason. I think that’s why their species are threatened; not all of the eggs hatch and even those that do are not guaranteed to survive as they still need to swim out to sea where they’re threatened by Pelicans and other animals that like to prey on them. The leatherback ones pictured above are on the ‘critical’ level, so every egg counts.
And thanks, Janetta
. I hate the heat, but Aruba’s heat isn’t humid like ours. It’s VERY comfortable there. Just stay underneath the shade and enjoy the soft breeze.
P.S. Tried to comment on your bloggy, but the name/url option is gone?
Oh the circle of life..
My blog is being wonky?? Thanks for letting me know! That’s weird… uh oh.
Was it the most recent entry? :T
I love warm weather (though I’ll always be an autumn kind of gal) but humidity makes me want to inclose myself in an a/c room. lol Aruba heat sounds nice though!
I know. It makes me so sad, too. We’re animal nerds! lol love it.
No, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your blog. I think the option to comment using only a name and url is gone.. Will have to comment using my old blogger account. No biggie!
And it was glorious to say the least.
Beautiful pictures!! My god, that first sunset pic… *swooooooooooon*
Thank you, Liz!!
Honestly, the photo doesn’t do the actual sunset any justice… It was so intense!
