This is seriously one of my biggest fears: walking around with questionable white powder all over my face. The last thing I want is to let out my secret obsession with mini cheese danish with a generous amount of icing sugar sprinkled on top. Seriously.

While I doubt Nicole Kidman has the same issue with puff pastry, this huge blunder is easily avoidable. Here are some simple tips:

  • If you are applying makeup during the day, walk out and look at yourself in the mirror in natural light.
  • Always have a large clean, fluffy brush handy. Use this to sweep off any excess powder. Fan brushes are also good.
  • Take a photo of yourself! Make sure the flash is on so that everything appears on the screen. Now you have a perfect excuse anytime someone catches you taking photos of yourself and accuses you of being narcissistic. Bonus!!
  • Try to stick with translucent powder – if you do have excess product on your skin, it won’t be as noticeable. But the real trick is to buff, buff, and buff! I cannot stress the importance of buffing enough. Buffing powder on your skin means taking your powder brush and working in the powder on your skin in large circular motions.
  • Find another makeup artist. Seriously, a good makeup artist will never ever let you walk on red carpet with your face short of flawless. This also happened with Taraji Henson which Renee at BeautyFool wrote about.

  1. Well I think the most important thing is too look in the mirror before going outside. How these things can happened to celebrities (cause is not the only case I’ve seen)? Sometimes I think their makeup artist played a joke on them :) )

  2. omigosh, Tavia, that last part actually made me laugh out loud…. Like there’s a secret society of disgruntled makeup artists out there plotting to leave white powdery substances on celebrities’ faces during red carpet events!! lol thanks for making me laugh :D !!!

  4. OOh another powdery crime! Haha I had to laugh at this, poor Nicole!

Shows how much they rely on their “people” – she obviously didn’t look in the mirror before she left!

  5. I know, right? What’s up with everyone and powder on their faces?!
It never ceases to amaze me how much these celebrities rely on others just to go from day to day… Like Mariah Carey who needs to be surrounded by her people so that she can walk properly?
