Glymm Box

The mailman came bearing gifts today: my voting Card for the upcoming election, Credit Card bills (yeah, thanks!), and the September box from Glymm! It’s been raining all day, so it could not have come at a better time. There’s just something about receiving parcels in the mail that instantly lifts the spirit, right?

To those who are not familiar, Glymm is a monthly subscription wherein you receive a box of 4-5 sample sized beauty products from various name brands in the market. It costs about $10 (inclusive of shipping charges) which is not too bad. The only downside is that you don’t know what you’ll get each time, hence it may not be suited for your specific needs/likes. But if you like to live your life on the edge, then it just may be the thing for ‘ya ;-) .

This month, the Glymm box contained the following:

  • John Masters Organics Blood Orange and Vanilla Body Milk and Body Wash
  • Vasanti blush in Rockies
  • Oscar dela Renta Esprit D’Oscar perfume
  • Small compact mirror
  • (Full sized) Vasanti Micronized Silky Blush in Rockies (bright coral).
  • A mini-jar filled with Jelly Belly jelly beans.

The best item in this box may well be the Vasanti blush. I got a full sized product which retails for approx. $15 CAD and it’s coral — nice, safe, and dependable coral. I have yet to try the John Masters Organics body wash and body milk, so I can’t say whether I like it or not just yet. I’m just a little surprised that they included similar items in the box — good for those who like the scent, not so good for those who don’t.
The Esprit D’Oscar perfume is perhaps the biggest letdown of the box. I thought that the size of the sample could have been a little bigger. You can get the exact same sample for free if you ask for one at a department store. The September box gets a 60% from me. I really liked the Vasanti blush, but the rest I can live without.

So, would I pay for another box? Well, why not? It’s fine if you’re on a budget since they don’t lock you in for any time period. You can buy a box for one or twelve months — it’s totally up to you. What I like about Glymm is that you can earn referral points which you can use towards the purchase of full sized product in their website.

You can sign up for Glymm here.

I feel the same way! The perfume is so cheapie to me, and I’ve never heard of the bath products (also hate they gave you two samples from the same line but whatevs). I’ve never heard of the brand Vasanti but I like the blush okay so… yeah, it’s okay. :)

Oh yeah, nice pictures too! :)

Hi Sydney! Are you back??

Did you get the August box? That one was GOOD (I didn’t get it, but saw some reviews online). I have heard of Vasanti. Actually, they have a kiosk in Vaughan Mills, but i’ve never really been drawn to the brand. I’ll try the brush tomorrow (have only swatched it)… And that perfume was a big letdown since you are promised deluxe-sized samples.

And thank—SIESSS!!

I can’t wait to see your vay-cay pics..

Actually, that’s a pretty decent box! I wonder if mine came in the mail yet. :P I’ve become addicted to these beauty subscription boxes even though a lot of the items in my Luxe Boxes have been let downs, lol. Can’t wait for my first Glymm box, though! Not a huge fan of Vasanti (they sell it at Shoppers now, actually) but it’s a pretty blush! John Masters Organics is a really nice brand, too. Does the blood orange scent smell good?

I tried Luxebox once.. I think I got some goof stuff — it came with the mictofoliant. That’s the thing with these beauty box subscriptions: it’s always a gamble! And I haven’t tried the John masters stuff, but the scent is okay… Will write a review soonsies. The Vasanti blush is quite nice. I tried it on just now and it’s a nice pinky-coral. Pretty!

Hi Kamilla :D

How do you like the products in this month’s box? And I’m a little glad I got the mirror instead because I have way too many GWP makeup bags from Clinique and Estee Lauder lol.

I’m very happy with the box, and I think it may even be better than Birchbox! :)

I love the body wash and body milk, especially the scent, it’s fruity but not too overpowering and lasts on my clothes and body for a very long time!

I am the opposite – I have too many mirrors!

Also, looking forward to wearing the Vasanti blush. It’s a very practical colour!

I haven’t tried the body wash, either. Thanks for reminding me, heheheh.

Oh man, I have WAY too much makeup bags. The Vasanti blush is actually pretty nice… I have seen kiosks for the brand here and there, but never really paid too much attention. The shade we got is a really fun colour!
