DIY: Your Own Customizable Palette Using (drumroll, please) an Altoid Tin!

Do you like curiously strong mints like I do? I’ve got to say, Altoids makes the best mint in the world — it’s all natural and, well, (curiously) strong! What I like even more are those SUPER cute tin cans that house said mints. There are countless DIY ideas for Altoid tin cans out there, so why not also make it work for us makeup crazed gals, no?

The idea came to me when I came thisclose to buying an Unii palette when it dawned on me that Altoid tin cans are magnetic! I’m a cheap-ass, so you can just imagine how happy I was!!

Moving on…

What you’ll need:

  • Your de-potted eye shadows
  • an Altoid tin
  • Magnets with adhesive

Yeah, this is a big Duh!

This step is definitely much more time consuming and requires a separate post, but there are tons of how-to’s on both youtube and on blogs. Pinch has a very good post wherein she gives you a step-by-step guide on how to depot MAC eye shadows, creams, etc.

You can buy magnets with adhesive from pretty much an arts and crafts store. I bought mine from Michaels. Sketch already had its own magnet since I bought it without the plastic case.

I believe you can also fit a regular sized MAC blush with some eyeshadow, but two won’t fit together. Also, don’t bother with the mineralized powder — they’re way too big for this tin.

Ugh. I love this one so much because it’s basically free! Who doesn’t like free stuff?
