One day I was walking by this salon inside The Promenade mall in Thornhill and saw that they were having a sale on Dermalogica products (20% off retail price).
WHAT?! They NEVER go on sale!!!
The trial sized bottle that I received in a LuxeBox box had just run out, so the timing could not have been more perfect.
Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant is basically a powder containing Rice-based enzymes. It has no colour and is not scented. To use, simply dispense half a teaspoon into already wet hands. Rub your hands together to create a creamy paste then gently rub on already damp skin for one minute maximum.

As the name suggests, the Daily Microfoliant is for daily use; I use it almost everyday and love how gentle it is on my skin, yet strong enough to slough away the dead skin cells that make it appear dull. At $75CAD per bottle, it is on the expensive side, but it will last you quite a long time. Would I buy again? Heck, YES!
Why Exfoliate?
- To remove the dead skin cells that sit on the outermost layer of the skin. Ever notice your skin looking a little on the dull side? This is because of the dead skin cells that have accumulated on your epidermis.
- Exfoliating helps your skin absorb skin products a lot better. Think of dead skin cells as obstacles to your skincare products. The less there are, the faster and more efficiently your skin will absorb your skincare products’ ingredients.
- To promote cell renewal. Exfoliating triggers your skin to start the skin renewal process — something that becomes more and more important as we age.
- Soften the look of wrinkles and fine lines. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines completely, but you can totally soften their appearance by exfoliating your skin regularly.

I’ve heard great things about Dermatologica as a brand but always shied away because of the price tag. Great tt you got a discount!
Hi Yuming
It does live up to all the hype. My skin always looks luminous after I use this…
And thanks! I’m so glad, too. LOL
I’ve been itching to try this but the price has been keeping me away. I noticed Bare Escentuals has something similar that is slightly cheaper so I’ve ordered that for the fun of it. Let’s see how it goes otherwise I might have to cave and get the real deal instead.
20% off Dermalogica is definitely a good deal
I didn’t even know Bare Escentuals sold skincare products! Please do a review.
I love to save money, but sometimes there’s nothing better than the real deal.
Their skin care seems to get a lot of good reviews. A bottle of Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant here costs as much as my monthly gym membership which is close to 100 CAD. So I thought I’ll try something similar and see how it works for me. I used the Bare Escentuals one once so far and it’s been pretty good. I only got it this week. I’m also trying out their primer (got a sample so I can buy a real bottle when I’m in the UK as it’s 71 CAD here but 30 CAD in UK
) and so far, so good. Not breaking me out and making my face look slightly less oily.
I gotta whip out my deluxe sample from that Luxe Box! Just ran out of the weekly mask and need a little extra. Thanks for the reminder and the review. Hope it works just as well as it did for you.
Hi LIz!!
How are you???
I hope it works out for you, too!
I can’t decide whether or not I like this product. On the one hand, it makes my skin look and feel pretty good… But on the other, I tend to only use scrubs at night after I take off my make-up and it’s always in the shower, and this product doesn’t fare well when used in the shower. I think I need to give my sample bottle another go…
Yeah, I find that this becomes too runny in the shower. I guess the amount of water really needs to be controlled or else it won’t work as well as it could.
Do you still subscribe to LuxeBox? I think I’m done with beauty subscription boxes at least for this summer…
Oh, god, no, when my Luxe Box subscription ended a few months ago, I was like, “THANK GOD.” I’m still waiting for my Glymm subscription to end.
The only one I still love is Julep.
Ugh. I’m so sick of beauty subscriptions. I decided to skip Julep this month and may do the same next month depending on how I feel.
