Yep, apart from being used as a mild laxative (sexayy!), castor oil can actually help your hair grow faster and also give it more “body.” Castor oil, a type of vegetable oil that is derived from the castor bean, has fungicidal and germicidal properities both of which work to promote hair growth.
To Use
- Anyone who has used castor oil before will know just how thick the stuff is. To change the consistency so that it is easier to apply to your hair, you will need to add oil that is lower in density such as coconut oil or almond oil.
- Massage onto your scalp and leave on for at least 10 minutes
- Rinse off and style your hair per usual. Again, due to the consistency of the oil, you may likely need to shampoo your hair more than once.
But wait!
Did you also know that you can use castor oil to help your lashes grow faster?
- Simply grab a clean q-tip and soak the end in castor oil.
- Next, apply at the base of your lashes just as you would an eyeliner.
Simple, non? I have yet to try this trick out, but you bet your bum I’ll be doing this the minute I get home.

growing hair faster? i’ll be interested to know more as you update on your results of using castor oil
yes, a lot of people have been raving about castor oil as a hair growth accelerant, but I have yet to see any difference in minen:(. The lack of commitment and consistency might explain it, tho.
