Beauty Secret: Lustrous Locks Using…Mayo?

Ladies, there are some of you who regard mayonnaise as your enemy. I mean, it’s just goop with tons of fat, right? Well, now you have a new purpose for that abandoned jar of mayo that has been stuck in the back corner of your fridge. Why not use it as a deep-conditioner for your hair?

Yeah, you read right: mayo as hair conditioner! Sounds absurd, right?

It’s goopy, it’s sticky, it’s yummy, and it’s great for your hair.

Mayonnaise has tons of protein from eggs, which can fill in the gaps in brittle hair and its other star ingredient, the lemon, helps naturally brighten hair strands.

Tools:

  • mayonnaise of choice
  • saran wrap/shower cap
  • warm towel

Steps

  1. On damp hair, work mayonnaise from roots to ends. Ensure that strands are evenly coated.
  2. Keep your dog away from your head. Yup, my dog is a hoover vac when it comes to anything edible! :S
  3. With saran wrap, wrap your head so that everything is sealed in. This is necessary for deep conditioning.
  4. Finally, wrap your hair in warm, damp towel. If not, then you can blow hot air through the gap between your hair line and the towel.
  5. Wait at least 15 minutes before rinsing.
  6. After 15 minutes, shampoo, per normal and style your hair.

The result? Smooth, silky, and shiny hair! Just make sure to rinse off completely, you don’t want to smell like chicken salad, do you?

Ladies, why not give this a try.
Just make sure to test on a small patch of your skin to see if you’re allergic before going full force with the stuff. Let me know how it goes!

Hey Mary. I’ve heard about this since I was a kid but never bothered giving it a try coz I don’t want my hair to smell like mayo.

Anyway, I actually just wanted to let you know that I tagged you. Hope you could do it.
