So, in spite of my genuine dislike for the entire cast of Jersey Shore, why do I find myself tuning in?? Could it be the GTL (gym, tanning, laundry) or their nightly sessions of who-can-get-drunk-faster-and-make-a-bigger-fool-of-themselves? It’s cringe inducing and, at one and the same time, quite hilariously enlightening (Who wouldn’t want to know the meaning behind hand grenades, land mines, and grenade launchers, anyway?)
But still, there is one factor that sets them above all else on TV and that is their insane tans. Take for example, Snooki who finds nothing else worth her time than a “juiced up Guido,” some pickles, and oodles of bronzer.
While I love me some good (fake) bronze over-bronzing does look a little unnatural. The point of using a bronzer is to enhance your skin and give it that coveted subtle glow — not give you a completely darker skin tone.
Here are some tips:
Keep it light
Always tap off excess powder off your brush or, if you’re using a cream/gel based bronzer, apply a little bit at a time. Hey, it’s more time-consuming to start over from the beginning than gradual application in the long run.
Buff, buff, and away!
If you do find that you’ve put enough bronzer to rival George Hamilton’s super bronzed face, then just keep buffing off the excess product using a clean powder, or better yet kabuki, brush. Make sure it’s clean — you don’t want to end up with reddish-brown face thanks to using your blush brush, do you?
Use Natural Light
If you’re applying bronzer during the day, make sure to step out with a mirror to inspect your face before leaving the house. If you think you’re a little orange, chances are, you do.

i’ve never seen jersey shore but i’m always seeing the cast in magazines and they are taaaaannnnn!!! hahaha
Mimi I think “taaaaannnnn!!!” is a bit of an understatement. haha. I believe they’re just 2 suntan bottles and an hour in the tanning booth away from having Oompa Loompa skin tone.
And the show is pure garbage so don’t worry if you miss it. It’s not exactly intellectually stimulating.
Good tips, Mary! I’m so afraid to look over-bronzed I often just don’t bother with the bronzer, I have to admit
I saw two minutes of Jersey Shore on mtv during my turn at the elliptical trainer at the gym a few days back. It wasn’t for me
Same here, Pinch.. Which is why it’s always to do with less than more (with regards to bronzing), no?
And please don’t get me started on that show… the worst thing is that I seem to find myself watching it. At least there’s Big Bang Theory to balance it out lol
