Girls, we all know that we need to moisturize in order to keep our skin fresh looking, smooth, and line free (well, until gravity finally wins the battle).  But we could also add a little sum’in sum’in more to our nightly beauty routine: an antioxidant serum.

OK, without getting all nerdy on you, anti-oxidants basically protects our skin from oxidation.  Cellular oxidation occurs when free radicals attack our skin cells and speed up the signs of aging.  How do we get free radicals? Well, it’s actually vital in converting the foods that we eat into energy and our body is armed with its own anti-oxidants to neutralize these free radicals.

However, we can be exposed to more free-radicals than our body can handle — think sun exposure, smoking, excessive drinking, unhealthy eating habits, etc.  Anti-oxidants work by neutralizing free radiccals and in doing so prevents increased cellular aging and even skin cancer.

We can get our anti-oxidants from fruits and vegetables, but when it comes to our skin serums are a great alternative.

I am currently using Aveda Anti-Oxidant Serum and so far so good. Anyone have a fave of their own and willing to spill their carefully guarded secrets? ;)

ps. If I were to do like instructional videos, would anyone be interested enough to watch them??
