It’s been almost a year since my last “in my purse” post, so I thought I’d do another one for old time’s sake. Lately, all I’ve been carrying around is Pepper. I almost didn’t get her at all, actually. I initially wanted the same style of bag only with the giant hardware instead of the regular hardware that Pepper has, but it was all sold out here. My bf offered to get me either the Anthracite or Papyrus or Praline in Las Vegas, but the only colour that I really liked (Praline) was snatched up by someone else. Thankfully, he talked me out of getting a bag that expensive without seeing it in person and I’m glad he did because I believe that Pepper and I were meant to be, guys.

Before Beige Etrusque came into my life, MAC’s Slimshine lipstick in Bare had been my go-to nude lipstick. The formula was super moisturizing; the colour was opaque and super flattering and it had a glossy finish to it. When MAC decided to discontinue the line my heart broke. I’d finally found the right nude lipstick for me and they were going to take it away just like that? Those sadists. Anyway, I guess the powers that be at MAC realized how stupid that move was and tried to make amends by releasing the Sheen Supreme line. Maybe it’s MAC’s way of saying “We’re sorry! Forgive us?!” It is very similar to the original Slimshine except that you get way more product and, I’ve got to admit, the packaging is spectacular. Sheen Supreme lipsticks come in a very sleek and glossy tube that you close with a click. I actually love this part because it means the chances of the lipstick accidentally opening and ruining the inside of my purse are lessened. Bare Again is a muted rosey-beige and is opaque after two swipes. It is very moisturizing — very similar to Slimshine from what I remember– and has a semi-glossy finish. Each tube contains 3.6g of product and retails for $14.50 USD which I’d say is pretty amazing considering that you get a little bit more product than the regular lipstick (each contains 3g of product). A winner in my books! Thanks, *D, the MAC Fairy!

Paisano’s

My bf took me took me to Paisano’s for our 9th year anniversary. The place is on the small side, the dining room was a little loud and dated, but our dinner was pretty good.
We ordered their grilled calamari to start. I think this was my absolute favourite dish of the evening. The calamari was marinated very, very well and it wasn’t overcooked. Nothing is worse than chewy calamari. Also, grilled calamari > deep fried calamari, in my opinion.

He ordered the Shrimp and Scallops Pasta: black tiger shrimp, fresh sea scallops & fresh tomatoes with linguine pasta, all tossed in tomato sauce.
He asked the server for a touch of shaved fresh parmesan.
I had been craving for pizza all week, so I ordered their Veggie Lovers’ Pizza. It had basil, mozzarella cheese, green peppers, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and green olives and the crust was thin-medium. I thought it was okay. They could have used grilled or even finely sliced tomatoes instead of just dumping huge chunks of uncooked tomatoes which really weighed my pizza down. Note to self: just get two orders of grilled calamari next time.
Obviously a little CARB-deprived, we went to Wimpy’s Diner after for some desserts. Pancakes for him.
And apple pie a la mode for me.
